SHOE MODELS NOT FOR OUTDOOR COURTS
SHOE MODELS NOT FOR PLAYERS

Among the countless basketball shoe models at the present time, although there are many, each shoe model is born to serve each position, each playing style as well as preferences, similarly there are models that only perform best when used on the right court surface (Indoor/Outdoor). Improper use not only makes the wearer have a wrong view of the true quality of the shoe but can also lead to unwanted things later.

This time, let's review with G2 the shoe models that should not be used on outdoor courts.

Curry 8
Once caused a stir in the community with its unique design language when pulling the midsole down to create traction, or in other words, removing the familiar rubber outsole like regular basketball shoes, Curry 8 thereby brings excellent grip on the court.

However, that is only when used on wooden courts, indoor courts. If using Curry 8 on outdoor courts, don't be surprised if after just a few sessions the sole shows signs of peeling or even deep dents. Restoring Curry 8 is also not easy, so consider carefully.

Jordan 36
Jordan brand is very fond of herringbone pattern, an old pattern but always trusted. In reality, if the outdoor court is not bad, Jordan 36 will still handle a few matches, but in the long run this is still not a reasonable choice.

The simple reason is that the Jordan 36 aims to serve NBA players to the maximum, so they choose soft rubber material as well as a shallow tread design that mainly brings a feeling of the court and higher grip when playing on indoor courts. But this is accidentally not the formula for outdoor courts.

Kobe 5 Protro
The traction from the Kobe 5 Protro is not too weak or cannot be used outdoors like the Curry 8 or Jordan 36, but it is still definitely not an optimal choice for outdoor courts.

The reason is not necessarily durability, the key is that with the increasingly high price of Kobe shoes, this has almost become a more casual shoe line, even wearing it indoors and watching it wear out with each match is already a difficult decision.

Lebron 17 / 17 Low
Although it is one of Nike's most advanced shoe models, the Lebron 17 has never been the choice when it comes to good outdoor shoes.

The sole pattern is not too shallow but is made of soft rubber and the design does not allow Lebron 17 to withstand outdoor courts well. Another part comes from the full Air cushioning with Zoom, which makes the wearer much more careful, because if the outsole is worn out, it will cause a lot of friction in the midsole area, and the cushioning can completely break or spray.

Lebron 17 Low has a very similar sole pattern structure from Lebron 17, so although it has very impressive grip, it is obviously not the choice when it comes to outdoor basketball shoes.

Lebron 18 / 18 Low
The design that combines speed with support for bounce not only contributes to the unique design but also brings a rather interesting half-split traction on Lebron 19. However, that is a problem when fighting on outdoor courts.

The forefoot with mesh design may last a little longer than the back part which only simulates the dots divided into areas and is somewhat shallow. Not to mention the disadvantage of the Air cushion as mentioned above is also a minus point.

Similar to Lebron 18 when owning the same traction structure, although on Lebron 18 Low the outsole in the forefoot area feels more sturdy, it will still be difficult to wear this shoe model regularly on outdoor courts.

PG 4
This is probably the most controversial shoe model on this list when a group of players think it cannot be worn outdoors and others think the opposite.

On PG 4, the sole is soft but with a relatively high density of patterns, it still gives this shoe a certain ability to withstand friction. The main thing is the court surface and the frequency of play of the owner. Therefore, in general, if you choose PG 4 for outdoor play, you need to pay attention to the court surface not being too bad and you should not "plow" on this shoe model. Obviously, this is not a safe shoe for outdoor play.

PG 5
Bringing back the legendary sole pattern like on Kobe 9 with extremely good grip, but to have that impressive grip is the combination of soft rubber and just enough shallowness. Therefore, it comes with an inherent disadvantage from many years ago, which is that this traction is not suitable for outdoor play.

The above article is based on the writer's personal opinion and experience, so it is for reference only. The decision of what shoes to buy and how to use them is still yours, but please consider carefully to find the most suitable pair of shoes for your needs and actual circumstances.
